Communication in general is process of sending and receiving messages.
Nonverbal communication is learned by young kids by watching and imitating expressions.
As children develop verbal skills, nonverbal channels of communication become entwined in the total communication process.

What is the project about?

Introduction: Intercultural difference is not simply a question of language. Even if we know how to speak a foreign language we also know there are plenty of traps, which make real communication difficult because of cultural differences. We do not always just use words to communicate something. We can express pleasure with a smile and anger with a glower. We express surprise by raising our eyebrows and indifference by shrugging our shoulders. In fact there is a whole language of body movements and gestures that we use all the time, often without realising it. In fact, it is known as body language.

We use body language to accent or emphasize words and display our feelings.
Gestures operate to clarify, contradict, or replace verbal messages. Using body movements (for example nods of the head ) we control the back and forth flow of speaking and listening.
Postures as well as gestures are used to indicate attitudes, affective moods, approval, deception or warmth.

We have 80 muscles in your face that can create more than 7,000 facial expressions.
Our face changes: the forehead, eyes, eyebrows, eyelids, cheeks, nose, lips, and chin.

There six main types of facial expressions found in all cultures
Happiness- round eyes, smiles, raised cheeks
Disgust-wrinkled nose, lowered eyelids and eyebrow, raised upper lip
Fear- around eyes, open mouth
Angry- lower eyebrow and stare intensely

The most dominant and reliable features of the face, the eyes, provide a constant channel of communication. They can be shifty and evasive; convey hate, fear, and guilt; or express confidence, love, and support. Eyes are the mirrors of the soul.

It is also important how use our voice.
Difference in loudness, pitch, timbre, rate, inflection, rhythm, and enunciation all relate to the expression of various emotions.
Same words or phases can change their meaning, depending on how they are said. If the phrase "thank you" is uttered sincerely, it means an expression of gratitude; if intoned sarcastically it expresses opposite emotion.
